If you have a modern or urban outdoor aesthetic, industrial-style lanterns made from galvanized steel pipe fittings are incredibly cool and durable. These look great mounted on brick walls or timber posts.
How to Make
Use galvanized steel pipe nipples, elbows, and flanges from the plumbing aisle. Assemble them into a “cage” structure that surrounds a central glass hurricane shade. Mount the flange directly to your wall. Place a large, high-quality outdoor candle inside the glass shade. The dark, industrial pipe provides a sharp, masculine contrast to the soft, warm light of the candle.
