7. Magnetic Window Frame Herb Garden

7
For a truly futuristic and space-saving design, consider a magnetic window frame herb garden. This clever concept utilizes the power of heavy-duty magnets to mount lightweight mason jars directly to a metal window frame, a metal backing board, or even the side of a nearby refrigerator that catches sunlight. It is an ideal solution for small kitchens where every square inch of horizontal space is precious.

To build this, you will need extra-strength neodymium magnets, which are incredibly powerful despite their small size. Securely glue several of these magnets to the flat side of pint-sized mason jars using a high-strength, waterproof epoxy. If your window frame is not magnetic, you can mount a stylish galvanized steel sheet or a magnetic strip to the wall adjacent to the window. Simply snap the magnetized jars onto the metal surface. Because of the weight of the soil and water, it is best to use smaller pint jars and lightweight potting mixes like coco coir or perlite blends to ensure they remain securely suspended.
